KFC transforms its restaurants into learnings environments for at-risk youth

May 03, 2023

As the fastest growing quick service restaurant brand in the world, KFC aims to feed people’s potential by fighting inequality in its many forms, including at-risk youth.

As part of this global effort, six KFC restaurants operated by franchise partner Transcom Foods Limited (TFL) in Bangladesh, has announced a new community initiative called KFC “Shopner Pathshala” in collaboration with LEEDO and Mojar School organizations.

Translated to English as “school of dreams,” Shopner Pathshala aims to unlock opportunities for at-risk youth by providing them with a safe and enjoyable learning environment.

Each morning, KFC restaurants are repurposed as classrooms where at-risk youth can build skills and grow their knowledge in subjects like social etiquette and general hygiene. Skill building courses cover everything from literacy and mathematics to arts and vocational skills.

KFC also provides supplies including books, stationary, school bags and board games, in addition to serving meals for the children during each session to round out their learning and growth experience.

Starting as six-month trial, the program has proven to be successful in engaging youth and will now be rolled out across all restaurants operated by TFL in Bangladesh.

KFC Shopner Pathshala is one of a handful of programs KFC runs across the world that aims to reach at-risk youth, engage them in skill building and work alongside them to build better futures.
