KFC South Africa Says A Little Goes A Long Way
Uber Eats & KFC partner to feed 250,000 children in South Africa
Johannesburg, South Africa, October 28- With October being World Hunger Month, Uber Eats has partnered with KFC and Add Hope to help fight hunger by contributing up to 250,000 meals to children in need across South Africa.
“While restrictions are slowly lifted, its impacts are still felt and will likely be for the foreseeable future. Our platform connects millions of users and we understand our responsibility to leverage this. We encourage our community to partake in this partnership with KFC and provide a meal for South African kids who are in desperate need,” says Shane Austin, Head of Operations at Uber Eats South Africa.
For every KFC meal ordered, Uber Eats will provide a meal to a child in need. The partnership will see Uber Eats donate R2.00 for every meal ordered via the app to Afrika Tikkun as part of the Add Hope initiative. With close onto 50 years since the first KFC restaurant opened its doors in South Africa, the popular eatery has supported numerous communities.
“Over the last 10 years, KFC’s Add Hope initiative has grown exponentially, now providing 30 million meals per year to over 150,000 children – supporting more than 140 different non-profit organisations,” says Andra Nel, CSI manager at KFC. “Add Hope has always been about business and consumers working in solidarity to make a difference and this partnership with Uber is a natural extension to amplify these efforts through the simple act of ordering a meal.” For the next four weeks (16 October - 15 November), or up until 250,000 orders have been achieved, South Africans may get involved by:
- Download the Uber Eats app or sign-in
- Tap on a KFC restaurant in the Uber Eats app between 9 am - 9 pm
- Add the KFC meal of your choice into your order.
- Your order will arrive to your door via contactless delivery, while Uber Eats donates R2.00 on your behalf to KFC’s Add Hope initiative
This initiative further expands on Uber Eats’ historic partnership with Afrika Tikkun, which over the past few months have provided relief to over 100 000 South Africans.
